Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were contacted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then found many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important official stated the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
